This course will introduce students to Quality Improvement and the significance of this tonursing practice and improving patient care in today’s complex health care system.Application of quality improvement to nursing will be achieved through a focus on two keyaspects of nursing practice-patient-centered care and multidisciplinary teamwork. Anevidenced based model, fundamental to all aspects of quality improvement, will be discussedand building on this, students will be facilitated in the development of a variety of tools thatsupport the ongoing process of improving quality in the workplace.
This course introduces students to the key aspects of disaster management following international guidelines. It provides students with the specific knowledge, skills, and behaviors required to assist in the management of public health emergencies and natural disasters. Nursing roles in disaster situations include ensuring safety of oneself, the victims, and the immediate environment, prioritizing and triaging of victims, applying first aid, effective communication and coordination of care while working within the scope of practice and national guidelines.
This course introduces nursing students to both the principle and the practice of the specialtyarea of peri-operative nursing. Theoretical knowledge is integrated with prior knowledge andskills of infection control. Students will follow a patient through the peri-operative processfrom pre-operative assessment to post-operative nursing care and acquire basic nursing skillsfor safe care delivery.
A major focus of this course is for students to undertake a project that will help themតransitioning into the role of a registered professional nurse. They will be supported with selfreflection activities as well as a review of legal and ethical boundaries of practice andprofessional nursing guidelines. Essential requirements of nurses as well as contemporaryissues in relation to professional nursing practice will be discussed as well as a review ofrequirements for registration and licensure for professional nurses.
This course introduces students to the basic concepts of leadership and managementapplicable to a nurse’s roles. It emphasizes the application of leadership and managementskills in nursing care. Students will also learn about the dynamics of working in a nursingteam and a multidisciplinary team. Students will be introduced to the structure of theCambodian healthcare system and how health services are provided to improve public health.
