The main focus of this course is for students to undertake a project that will help them focus on the transition from student to registered professional nurse. They will receive support through self-reflection, as well as examining legal boundaries and ethical codes of practice and guidelines for the nursing profession. Key requirements for nurses, as well as emerging issues related to professional nursing practice, will be brought up for discussion, along with a review of registration and licensing requirements for professional nurses.
In this course students will be introduced to economic concepts in the healthcare sector, including demand, supply, and equity funds. This course focuses on the conceptual principles relating macro-economic activities to population health, demand and supply, and the ways in which they influence outcomes and service costs.
This course introduces students to the theories and concepts of leadership and management within the role of a nurse. This course also emphasizes leadership roles and management functions in the healthcare environment. Topics will include the foundations of effective leadership and effective management, leadership and management in decision-making, patient care, staffing requirements, annual planning, and the work environment. Students will also receive an introduction to the structure of the Cambodian healthcare system and how healthcare services are delivered to improve public health.
This course will provide students with knowledge regarding relevant gender concepts within the context of nursing practice, including the impacts of gender on the health of different population groups. By applying a gender perspective to nursing practice, students will be introduced to service promotion methodologies that can lead to improvements.
