This course provides students with the opportunity to consolidate and reinforce the knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes they have acquired throughout their general midwifery program. During this 3-month clinical internship, students will strengthen their clinical skills by taking on practical clinical challenges across all departments, providing them with opportunities to apply technical skills in a wide variety of contexts. Students must demonstrate that they have integrated the required competencies they learned and met the core competency framework established for general midwifery practice in Cambodia. Direct active participation in hands-on clinical training also provides students with opportunities for teamwork and collaborative team practice. Furthermore, this course allows students to identify areas for continuous learning and gain additional knowledge and experience that support defined educational goals as well as practical application within relevant clinical environments. This course provides dedicated time for students to ensure that all internship and graduation portfolio requirements are fully completed.
This course provides students with the support and skills necessary to understand the healthcare system in Cambodia. With a specific focus on maternal and neonatal health, students will examine the historical development of the healthcare system and identify critical and current challenges regarding the equitable delivery of health services and resource utilization within Cambodia. Students will analyze modern trends in the contemporary healthcare system and gain an understanding of financial management systems, including how health funds are allocated and utilized. The Health Information Management System (HIMS) will be reviewed, and students will identify the data required to serve as a foundation for evidence-based decision-making in obstetric care.
Furthermore, students will discuss the benefits and challenges of global versus private healthcare systems and their impacts on the delivery of reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent healthcare. Lastly, students will review research evidence related to various models of care, including midwife-led care models.

Following Life Saving Skills I, the Life Saving Skills for Midwives II course helps midwifery students gain comprehensive and high-quality life-saving skills. It integrates knowledge focused on organizing effective life-saving interventions for women and newborns during emergency and critical scenarios within care delivery. Additionally, students will attain competencies focused on early problem identification, life-saving strategies for immediate response, and timely referrals to support care interventions. This course provides students with knowledge regarding policies related to emergency obstetric and newborn care. Students will complete learning across theoretical components, classroom practice, and direct hands-on application during hospital clinical placements.
This course builds upon the broader understanding of reproductive health issues studied in Year 1 regarding "Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights I," in order to respond effectively to diverse community needs. Students will acquire the knowledge and appropriate professional attitudes needed to provide care services tailored for young, middle-aged, and elderly women, taking into account women's health conditions across different stages of physical development alongside global trends in sexual and reproductive health. This section will also develop general knowledge, skills, and attitudes to deliver care related to organic pathologies and conditions such as tetanus, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and cervical cancer prevention—which includes screening programs, vaccination, early examination, Pap smears, and various counseling and support services.
Students will develop professional, clinical, and managerial competencies to provide safe and effective maternal healthcare services responsive to their choices. Students will further undertake theoretical and practical learning to promote women's health and implement preventive interventions, including reproductive health assessments and evidence-based clinical monitoring practices—foundational steps that are highly specific to Year 3. Furthermore, this section introduces appropriate clinical placements within accredited facilities alongside senior midwives and other health professionals. Students will also explore the complexities of services connected to community-based maternal care, including specialized fields and highly effective, advanced medical technologies
